Eat a Balanced Breakfast

Many of our clients tell us a healthful breakfast sets them up for a successful day and we could not agree more. Adding produce to breakfast is refreshing and will give you a headstart on your fruit and veggie goal. Adding protein and fiber to your breakfast will help keep you full, may prevent you from overeating later in the day and will assist in maintaining your energy level throughout the day. Your day is going to be filled with walking and vineyard hopping, so be sure to start the day strong with a balanced breakfast

Water, Water, and more Water

We can not stress enough- stay hydrated! Hydration is important year round, but we are more likely to become dehydrated when we are drinking alcohol. Additionally, you will probably be outside a lot if you are exploring vineyards and the sun can impact your hydration status. Carrying a refillable water bottle, stopping at water fountains, and asking for a glass of water alongside your wine will allow you to feel better on your summer vacation

Vineyard Walking Tours

Throw on your sneakers and opt for the walking tours rather than sitting in a tasting room. Not only will you learn about the history of the vineyard and all the cool facts about wine, but you will be able to get your steps in. Many vineyards even have private tours where you can walk around the inside of the tasting room as well as the vineyard itself. Some vineyards even have walking trails throughout the property allowing you to enjoy the views (and be active) while sipping your glass of wine.  Check out if your vineyard has other activities like yoga!

Charcuterie Boards

Most vineyards have the option to add on snacks like olives, pickled vegetables, cheese and meats. We encourage you to enjoy a charcuterie board while sipping your wine because nothing goes better together than cheese and wine. A charcuterie board will be high in protein if you add meats and cheeses and full of healthy fats if you add olives. Being mindful of these types of meals being low in produce will allow you to plan ahead and have a well-rounded day. Perhaps you choose to double your produce at breakfast to make up for minimal produce while at vineyards. You may also choose to go heavy on the veggies at dinner time.

Visiting vineyards can be a fun and exciting way to spend your hot girl summer. However, it can also be challenging to stay healthy while enjoying your vacation. By following these tips, you can stay hydrated, eat a balanced breakfast, walk the vineyards, and enjoy a charcuterie board while still prioritizing your health. Don't let the thought of staying healthy on vacation overwhelm you. With a little planning and mindfulness, you can have a great time at vineyards while continuing to make progress towards your health goals.
