What to Eat at Cava for Weight Loss | How a Dietitian Orders Fast Food

Hop on the Cava trend, because it’s here. Cava is a “make your own”-ish restaurant chain that is taking the US by storm. In this blog, I’ve gone through their menu and given you some suggestions but you do not have to stick to these choices! If you roll up to Cava and something else is calling your name, go for it! You can find their menu and nutrition information at the bottom of this blog post. 

Bowls

Cava has curated bowls to choose from and a “make your own” option.



Make your own (MYO)  bowl

Build a bowl that features protein + carbohydrates + produce to keep you feeling full and satisfied.


  • MYO Greens + Grains Bowl - Splendid Greens + Right Rice + Grilled Chicken + Pickled Onions + Tomato & Onion + Cucumber + Crumbled Feta + Light Lemon Herb Tahini + Free Pita| 650 calories 

  • MYO Salad Bowl - Baby Spinach + Harissa Honey Chicken + Corn + Broccoli + Tomato & Onion + Cucumber + Pickled Onions + Crumbled Feta + Light Hot Harissa Vinaigrette + Free Pita | 610 calories  

Pitas

All of their curated pitas are pretty high in calories, mostly due to the large pita wrap (320 calories each). Here’s some suggestions if you’d like to make your own. When online ordering or through the app, nutrition information is included and calculated as you make your choices. 

  • Grilled Chickeni + Cucumber + Tomato & Onion + Pickled Onions + Shredded Romaine + Light Yogurt Dill Dressing| 645 calories 

  • Spicy Falafel + Cucumber + Tomato & Onion + Shredded Romaine + Light Yogurt Dill Dressing | 665 calories 

  • Braised Lamb + Cucumber + Tomato & Onion + Shredded Romaine + Crumbled Feta + Light Yogurt Dill Dressing | 620 calories

  • Kid’s Pita Meal (2 toppings max) - Grilled Chicken + Tomato & Cucumber + Shredded Romaine + Light Yogurt Dill Dressing + Pita Chips + Hummus + Kid’s Cucumber Mint Lime Drink | 610 calories 

Drinks

Cava offers a variety of sparkling waters that are low calorie, fun options. They also have in-house made drinks that range from 130- 260 calories each.

  • You can order all dressings on the side or light

  • Dips are served on the side 

  • Bowls are served with a free side of pita

  • Nutrition information is calculated live if you are ordering online or through their app. Browse online before you are going out if you’d like to plan in advance, or order for delivery / pickup.
