Losing Weight After A Difficult Pregnancy | Client Interview with Danielle Bruns

Danielle has always lived an active life and it wasn’t until her 30s when she became pregnant with twins that she struggled with her weight. During her pregnancy, she was put on bed rest and developed gestational diabetes. Her body swelled up and she felt like her body was not her own anymore. After her twins were born, she struggled to lose weight, especially as a vegetarian. She tried a variety of weight loss programs including Noom, but it didn’t give her the results she wanted. She switched to the Millennial Nutrition Program because its methods are backed by science,  it has a holistic approach and involves 1:1 coaching with highly qualified nutritionists. Tune in as she talks with Illa about how this individualized science-baked approach gave her the results she desired. Danielle Bruns is a high school history teacher and mother to twin 4 yr old boys who lives in Santa Rosa, California.

3 key takeaways from Danielle’s experience include:

  • Beware of over-exercising. Many weight loss programs encourage you to exercise more in order to eat more but there comes a point when over-exercising can hurt your body and your success. Danielle found that when she rested more and exercised less, she began to feel better.

  • Eat more protein. As a vegetarian and someone who lifts weights, Danielle needed to eat more protein in order to fuel her muscles and balance out her caloric intake.  She added more protein by eating more egg whites, cottage cheese and icelandic yogurt.

  • Individualized Coaching. As a people pleaser, Danielle found that she thrived having someone checking in on her and cheering her on along each step of the way.
