Nutritious and Filling Food For Camping | Easy Camping Meals
By Vanessa Carrillo
When it comes to packing food for camping, it doesn't have to be complicated. The best thing about this food list is that it can be prepared ahead of time. When you go for hikes, make sure to take some snacks and water to keep your body fueled and hydrated.
Meals will focus on protein and complex carbs to keep you feeling fuller longer, such as:
Egg and potato burrito
Quinoa and Oatmeal mix
Whole Wheat Pancakes
Turkey, canned tuna, chicken or salmon for sandwiches
Grilled veggies in foil
Grilled chicken and veggie kebabs
Bean and veggie burrito
Beef and veggie quesadillas
Beef Jerky
What’s proper exercise without proper hydration?
“Exercise is important for anyone on a weight loss or health improvement journey. Water delivers crucial nutrients like electrolytes to the muscles during exercise so that they can contract properly. Water is needed to break down food into energy. It supports respiratory and cardiovascular function. It lubricates your joints and hydrates your muscle tissue, which allows for optimal movement. Drinking water before, during, and after exercise is one of the most important things you can do to support your body and get the most out of your workouts.”
For snacks, focus on simple carbs and fat to give you that pick-me-up energy and long-lasting fuel.
Carbohydrates are essential for your body to function normally and optimally, especially during exercise. If you get a little hungry on the trail, consider tossing these snacks in your backpack (minus the yogurt):
Yogurt
Fruit
Dried Fruit
Trail mix
Granola bars
Applesauce pouches
Peanut butter balls or pouches
Seeds
Pb and J sandwich
Spending time in nature is the best way to disconnect from the craziness of life and apperciate movement that feels good to the body. No matter if you’re staying local or traveling to your destination, rememberer to enjoy the journey.
