What to do in Las Vegas Besides Casinos and Drinking Part 2: Biking Trails in Nevada

Lower Las Vegas Wash Trail

One of my father’s personal favorites is the Lower Las Vegas Wash Trail. This bike path is 8 miles round trip and covers the northwest part of town. The trail begins at Craig Ranch Regional Park (formerly Craig Ranch Golf Course) which boasts a huge skate park, plenty of walking paths, and an always busy dog park. The trail goes along the Las Vegas wash and stays away from heavy traffic.

If you’re looking for something more touristy, check out the Railroad Tunnel Trail near Boulder City, Nevada, the home of Hoover Dam. This trail is 8.2 miles round trip and as mentioned in its name, has five tunnels on route! The trail is a great place for walking, too. On this path you’ll be able to see remnants of Hoover Dam’s construction as well as a view of Lake Mead and Boulder Basin.

Maybe biking isn’t your thing and that’s alright. Las Vegas is home to plenty of hiking that the locals love to enjoy.

Next time you find yourself in Sin City, bring your walking shoes and workout clothes! There are plenty of ways to stay active both on and off the Strip. The Las Vegas valley has been my home for two decades and I am so grateful I get to share a few of its many beauties with you. Safe travels!
