How to Lose Weight while Working from Home

Written by Elisa Garza

Still working from home (WFH) during this pandemic? No worries, we are here to support you through this journey! Here are some tips to help you stay healthy and increase productivity:

1.Create a routine. Make priority lists and develop a schedule

While this may sound simple, this could be the very task you need to commit to in order to ensure you tackle all your work, family and personal commitments.  Priority lists are essential to beat work overload and burnout. You will have the opportunity to focus your time and energy on high priority tasks which will lead to productivity and value to your team/organization. See this link below for more guidance on how a priority lists and schedule can lead to success for WFH.

2. Plan out your meals

Is it snack time yet? While you are home and have access to your fridge and pantry, it is ideal to plan out your meals. By planning meals, you can prevent overeating, and ensure that you are consuming enough macronutrients and alleviate stress from meal planning daily. Some go-to ideas include rotisserie chicken and bagged salad, power bowls and if necessary take out (head over to our Instagram to discover fast food weight loss menu items). A great method for planning meals can be to use a white board or printed template to create your weekly meals. Post the menu on the fridge for that extra step of accountability!

3. Maintain hydration status

Don’t forget to drink 6-8 cups of water a day! Hydration will help your metabolism work optimally. By drinking water you can also decrease your appetite. Whether you prefer bottled water, a reusable bottle or a Brita, be sure to make hydration a top priority.

4. Use your breaks for movement

You may be sitting for nearly 80 % of your WFH day. Try to include movement in your day by walking during your lunch break, practicing yoga and/or standing up while working. According to a publication by Dr. Srini Pillay, “Your mind and body are intimately connected. And while your brain is the master control system for your body’s movement, the way you move can also affect the way you think and feel.” Keep in mind that any movement is better than none!
