The Best End-of-Summer Mocktails You Have to Try | Low Calorie, Weight Loss Friendly Drinks

Written by Hannah Abdulla, RD

With more and more people seeking non-alcoholic drinks, we decided it is time to write a blog about it. Reasons for exploring alcohol-free beverages may vary whether it is for sobriety, pregnancy or if you are simply trying to reduce calories. Regardless of your reason, we have four ideas that you will want to check out this summer. This blog post contains drinks that are relatively low in calories, however that may not always be the case when ordering non-alcoholic beverages when dining out. Just because there is no alcohol does not necessarily mean it is low calorie. If you are seeking out alcohol free beverages for the purpose of decreasing calories be sure to be mindful of this.

Non-alcoholic mojito

Everyone loves a good mojito, especially in the summer. It is light and refreshing which is perfect for the heat. This is a great option to make at home due to minimal ingredients, but will also be available at many bars.

Ingredients (makes one drink)

  • Fresh mint

  • Lime wedges

  • Seltzer

Making at home

  • muddle 3-4 lime wedges and 6 mint leaves in a glass

  • add ice and seltzer

  • Give it a good stir, garnish with a lime and enjoy

*if you would like this drink a bit sweeter you can add a splash of sprite

Pineapple spritzer

There is something about pineapple that gives summer vacation vibes. Especially when it is in a drink! We found this recipe from The Mindful Mocktail and it is one you will want to try. Check out her blog for additional mocktail ideas.

Non-alcoholic paloma

If you are a fan of citrus flavors, you will likely enjoy a paloma. This drink is typically made with tequila, but we can easily omit the tequila for a refreshing non-alcoholic drink. This is another drink that can be ordered at many bars and restaurants.

Ingredients (makes one drink)

  • Lime wedges

  • 3 oz grapefruit juice

  • ½ oz lime juice

  • 3 oz seltzer

  • ½ oz agave syrup

  • Kosher salt

Directions

  • Place the kosher salt on a plate. Rub the rim of the glass with the lime then dip the rim of the glass into the salt

  • Add grapefruit juice, lime juice and agave juice to the glass and stir until mixed

  • Add the ice then top with seltzer

  • Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy
